A busy weekend of bonsai just around the corner...

April 20, 2014 Michael Pollock

Next weekend is the MidAtlantic Bonsai Societies' Spring Festival in East Hanover, New Jersey. Just thirty minutes from Manhattan, this is a great opportunity to see what's going on in our area. The exhibition should contain over 40 bonsai from over a dozen clubs.

Bonsai festivals are excellent opportunities to see some great trees, watch talented professionals create new bonsai, and buy all of the things you need to develop and refine your own collection. Viewing a bonsai exhibition can be very enlightening. You can learn about bonsai design and some of the basics of displaying your trees. Seeing a range of trees can help you clarify the species and styles that really speak to you. There is a large vendors area with everything one might need. Buying locally is a great opportunity to save on shipping costs. The savings in shipping can even pay for your registration costs!

I'll be there all weekend, arriving midday Friday before things really get started. I'm available to advise on purchases; contact me for details on this service.

Hope to see you there; If you see me, come say hello.
